Attitude is half the battle when it comes to most things in life. It is the right attitude that helped you launch your small business. You believed you could do it, so you did. Many of us have made a regular habit of motivating ourselves to do something great. It is that kind of personality that starts things. But that does not mean the Typ A self-starters in the world don’t get discouraged sometimes. Of course, they do. Your small business is everything to you. It represents freedom, financial independence; it creates a legacy for your family. So it stands to reason that you would want to protect it at all costs. But the price you are paying may be higher than it should be if you don’t have the right attitude

Battles are won and lost in the mind before a word is ever said. Your perspective will shape the actions you take. With that in mind (see what I did there), how is your attitude lately about your small business coming out of a pandemic? Are you frustrated with your small business? Is the pandemic affecting your outlook on the future of your business?

Your Small Business Needs More Than A Pep Rally

Long after you have the Rah-Rah session with your employees about banding together and pulling through, they’ll be watching your attitude and behavior to see if they should keep the faith or start filling out applications online. There is a lot that goes on for us subconsciously that tells people how we are doing emotionally.

If you want productivity to be at a maximum, your employees need to know there is something worth striving for. If you don’t have the right attitude about your small business and its capabilities of emerging to something better than when you started, neither will your employees. It could be that the elephant in the conference room that needs discussing is your attitude. How are you feeling about your future lately? It’s worth checking in on yourself. Think about what your behavior has been like in the office. How have your conversations with your employees been lately? You are giving away more information than you think.

Employees Need To See You Planning For The Future

It could be that the big difference maker right now is talking to your employees in future terms. If you have gone on too long about just getting through this or trying to make it, you are casting a shadow over your success. Your employees don’t want to feel like they are hanging on by a thread. They want to know you believe there is something still to come.

The conversation about desperation and crisis has to turn. Start talking to your employees about what you plan to do this year. Are you going to launch a new product? Could you speak to them about updating the website or sprucing up the marketing material for the latest push in 2021?

Getting you all focused on longevity and future things will do you all a world of good. Have conversations about future investments in the business. Start a dialog with your employees about what they would like to see in the future of your small business. Dream again. Look ahead. The end is there if you want it to be. Can you see it?

Make Investments In Your Employees’ Future

The best way to instill confidence in your employees is to make investments in their future. That might seem like a tall order right now with everything your small business has been through. It could be that you don’t see the financial capabilities to invest, but it is easier than you think.
